FREDERICK, Md. – No. 15 Men's Basketball shoots 50-percent from the field and puts triple digits on the scoreboard for the 10
th time this season with a 106-79 win over Stevenson to improve to 9-0 in MAC Commonwealth play in Woodsboro Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
Inside the Box Score
Jevon Yarbrough (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) final numbers stand at 41 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to cap off the night.
Jude Huseby (Frederick, Md./Urbana) drops 22 going 8-for-12 from the field.
Kullen Robinson (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) finishes with 14 points and six assists.
How it Happened
Hood proved early that the Mustangs were going to have to earn their buckets with a discipline defense only sending Stevenson to the line once. Good ball movement by the Blazers created trouble as good attempts from beyond and from the paint by
Jude Huseby (Frederick, Md./Urbana) and Robinson would create a 28-11 run to start the contest.
Some opponent jumpers would land, but only when Kyle Luddy would sink a few threes pressure on the main vein of the game would provide a pulse.
With Stevenson looking to settle in, an errant pass at midcourt was picked up by
Karron Mallory (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) who outhustled the field and brought it to the bucket to put the game back into Hood hands.
Following a turnover on the next Mustang possession, Yarbrough continues his coin share with a dime to an open Robinson in the paint to push the message further. Add another turnover and a
Troy Fulton (Denver, N.C./Lincoln Charter) triple and Woodsboro Bank Arena would get a little bit wild for an 18-point lead at 35-17.
The Blue & Grey would leave the first half with just about that lead with Yarbrough totaling 17 points and seven assists while Robinson was a cool 5-for-6 from the field.
Huseby needed a heat check out of the second half as he was handed the rock and stretched the floor with half of the Blazer points scored with good looks and pure shots made.
With some injury and some need of flexibility from this lineup,
Jack Robertson (Chantilly, Va./Freedom-South Riding) brought a defensive poise in his third-year stature. And when Huseby and Yarbrough were being keyed on, Robertson broke the gameplan with a pair of threes that set the game way on its way to the win column.
Yarbrough continued to work and let the ship sail off into the distance with his ability to get a bucket by any means. His night ended after hitting eight of his last nine shots and Hood owned a 30-point lead in the Battle of I-70.
"Really pleased with that win today," said head coach
Chad Dickman. "We had a lot of guys step up and we really kept our foot on the gas pedal."
"Jevon is playing at an unbelievable level right now, and we have so many guys that can be a threat every night—it's gotta be extremely tough for teams to help out too much on Jevon when we have so many other weapons."

Kole Beaman scores 21 points, going 9-for-15 from the field.
Kyle Luddy hit five threes and dished four assists.
