Pa - The Hood College women's track and field team battled the elements this weekend at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, the conditions were far from ideal but the Blazers refused to back down, turning in a series of gritty and impressive performances.Â

Senior Tianna White (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) stole the spotlight with a massive breakthrough in the 400m hurdles, with a huge personal best of 1:16.53. With a conference right around the corner, she's peaking at the perfect time. First Year Amber Marshall () had a time of 5:24.25 and First Year Maya Carey with a time of 5:26.68 rising to the challenge, each grinding out personal records in the 1500m despite the rainy conditions.Â
On the sprint side, First Year Jahsiyha Savoy continued to make waves, dropping a strong 13.42 in the 100m as she gears up for a showdown with the Middle Atlantic Conference top sprinters next week. She doubled back, having a time of 27.75 in the 200m, placing 19th in a deep competitive field.Â
Senior Megan MulHolland delivered in the middle distance with a season-best delivering a time of 4:30.12 in the 1500m, while sophomore Rosie Olivar (Beltsville, Md./High Point Senior) turned in one of the most inspiring performances of the day. After battling injuries throughout the spring, she powered her way to a huge 5000m personal best with a time 20:22.20.Â
In the throws, Senior Kindal Davis (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) closed out her season with solid efforts in both the shot put 7.07m and hammer throw 30.49m.
Rain, cold, and adversity, none of it could stop the Blazers from showing their grit. Now, all eyes turn to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, where Hood will compete in the Middle Atlantic Confrence Outdoor Track & Field Championships from April 30 through May 2.Â
