Men's Soccer unable to utilize late mismatch against Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – Despite a Shenandoah team plagued with nine cards on the match including two reds, the pair of goals scored in the first half determined what would eventually be a 3-0 loss against the Hornets on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Inside the Box Score

Aidan Wright (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) and Caleb Terry (Severn, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) both had shots on goal.

Adam Labows (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) marked six saves on the game.

How it Happened

Shenandoah applied pressure early, forcing goalkeeper Adam Labows (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) into an early save just 37 seconds into the match before finding the opening goal in the fourth minute.

The Blazers settled in after the early setback and generated their first quality opportunity in the 15th minute when Aidan Wright (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) put a shot on target, but Shenandoah goalkeeper Aidan King-Miller made the save to keep the resistance in check.

The Blazers would hold off the scoring until the 40where a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick later resulting in a conversion and a 2-0 deficit. Despite two goals allowed, Labows kept Hood within striking distance before the break with four first-half saves.

Looking to spark a comeback, Terry forced a save less than three minutes after the half to show urgency, and Hood began to gain ground in the attacking third. The match continued to shift towards the Blue & Grey shifted in the 67th minute when Shenandoah's Mudd received a red card, reducing the Hornets to 10 men for the remainder of regulation.

But despite playing a man down, the Hornets added an insurance goal in the 79th minute when Luca Pickeral found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-0.

Analysis

Hood was edged in shots 15-6.

Notes

Hood falls to 2-3, dropping three of their last four.

Shenandoah earns their first win of the season after two straight draws.
