FREDERICK, MD - The women's soccer team came out victorious in their Pride Game against Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, September 19, as the Blazers secured a 3-0 shutout victory at home.

How it Happened
The Blazers came out of the gate knowing they needed to win this matchup at home. They started the first half by securing the first goal of the game, as
Ryley Backer (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) found the back of the net in the 12th minute off a perfect pass from
Leah Cook (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick), making the score 1-0.
The Blazers didn't stop there, as Cook found the back of the net herself after juking the keeper and putting one past her, extending Hood's lead to 2-0. For the remainder of the first half, Hood's defense held strong, sending the Blazers into halftime with a commanding lead.
Halfway through the second half, the offense continued to create opportunities, with multiple shots on goal coming from
Dani Farias (Ellicott City, Md./Howard),
Elizabeth Poulson (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair), and Cook. Farias was then able to put the nail in the coffin, scoring the final goal of the match in the 60th minute to push the Blazers' lead to 3-0. Hood's defense held off multiple shots from the Eastern Mennonite attack to secure the shutout and finish the match with a 3-0 victory.
