Thomas Chatfield

Thomas Chatfield enters his first year as Head Athletic Trainer in the fall of 2026 after previously working as the associate (2018-2026) and assistant (2014-2018).

Thomas was awarded the Dr. Henry P. And Page Laughlin Administrative Achievement Award and the Mortar Board Rose Award for the school year 2020-2021. Chatfield is also a 2-time coach of the year at the helm of the men's and women's golf programs. 

Before coming to Hood, Chatfield worked as the head athletic trainer at St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, Md. since 2011. He also served as an assistant athletic director from 2012 until accepting his position at Hood. Chatfield taught physical education and health at St. Maria Goretti High School.

Chatfield received his Master's degree in Business Administration from Hood College in 2018 and his bachelor’s degree from Towson University in 2011. While attending Towson University, he served as a athletic training student, assisting with the Tigers 21 NCAA Division I athletic offerings, primarily working with football.

Chatfield is a board certified, state licensed by Maryland Board of Physicians, CPR/AED Professional Rescuer/ HC Provider and National Safety Council First Aid certified. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Maryland Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association.
