Hood College

Matt Poell has served as an Assistant Coach at Hood College since 2023.

Prior to his time with the Blazers, he served as the assistant and goalkeeper coach for Goucher Men’s soccer program from 2019-2023. During his time at Goucher he was a part of Coaching Athletes of the Week, All Conference, and All-American players.  

In 2023, received the Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year Award with his fellow coaching staff with a record of 10-4-6 while qualifying for the Landmark and ECAC playoffs. In addition to his work with the Gopher goalkeepers, Poell is a head coach with the Pipeline Soccer Club youth organization for the 2010 and 2012 teams and overseeing Baltimore Union 2013 and 2010 age groups.

In the spring of 2019, he served as the boy's Goalkeeping Coach with the Virginia Development Academy.

In 2018-19 Poell was Junior Academy Head Coach at Virginia Soccer Association after serving as the organization's goalkeeper coach since 2016. 

From January 2017-May 2018 he also was the Director of Goalkeeping for Winchester United Soccer Association.

Poell is a 2018 graduate of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia with a degree in Kinesiology (Parks and Recreation).  He was a two-year member of the Hornets' men's soccer program.  

Poell holds a U.S. Soccer "C" coaching license and is currently a Health Educator and Boys Soccer Coach at Tuscarora High School.
