FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team rode the
performances of several freshmen to a 3-0 shutout of visiting
Wilson in an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference match Wednesday
afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
Freshman Laura Hines scored her first career goal in the 34th
minute off an assist from junior Courtney DeSisto, and classmate
Whitney Boyer tacked on goals in the 78th and 82nd minutes to give
the Blazers (2-3-1, 2-0-0 AWCC) some breathing room.
Freshman Jessica Nease recorded her first career assist on
Boyer's first goal. Boyer's second goal was a shot that went off
Wilson goalie Sarah Engelsman's hands. Boyer leads Hood with five
goals this season.
Freshman goalie Nina Duron made one save to earn her second
shutout of the season for the Blazers, who held a commanding 31-2
advantage in shots.
The Blazers return to action Thursday when they host Trinity
(D.C.) University for an AWCC match at 4 p.m.
