FREDERICK, Md.--Freshman Cara Jordan and senior Courtney DeSisto
of the Hood College women's soccer team (5-9) each netted goals in
a 2-0 shutout of Penn State Harrisburg Monday in nonconference
action. Hood has now won four of its last five, all of which have
been shutouts.
Jordan's score in the 25th minute was her team-leading sixth of
the season. Then just before the half, Jordan launched one of
Hood's 11 corner kicks into the box to DeSisto by the right post
and the senior hooked it past Nittany Lion keeper Krystal Miranda
and into the right corner of the net. The tally was DeSisto's first
of 2007.
Hood outshot Penn State Harrisburg 32-5 and did not allow a shot
on goal the entire day. Miranda racked up 19 saves on the day for
the visitors, who slip to 2-7-2 on the season.
Hood returns to action Thursday against Shenandoah University at
4 p.m.
