FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College's volleyball team (2-18) was in
action twice Saturday afternoon taking on Shenandoah University
(7-12) and Lynchburg College (14-4). Behind senior Ashley
Bryan's 22 kills and senior Jamie Bussey's 39 digs the Blazers
forced Shenandoah into a fifth and deciding game, but were not able
to secure the victory (24-30, 28-30, 30-27, 30-26, 8-15).
The Blazers fell in the opening two games but stormed back to
win the next two putting the pressure on the Hornets. The
Blazers fell behind early in the 5th game, and as a result the
Hornets never relinquished their early game lead.
The Blazers' second match of the day was against the Lynchburg
College Hornets. The Hornets picked up a 3-0 (17-30, 12-30,
19-30) victory.
Freshman Kristina Straub led the team with nine assists and 13
digs while Bussey added 11 digs.
Hood returns to home next Saturday to hosting Emory & Henry
College and Trinity University in another tri-match beginning at
