ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (0-5,
0-2 CAC) fell to Capital Athletic Conference rival St. Mary's
College (Md.), 4-0, Monday afternoon.
The Seahawks got on the board off the very first possession when
Taylor Cervenka clanged one off the crossbar and into the net just
34 seconds into the contest. But following that tally, freshman
keeper Rachelle Buhrman held the Seahawks scoreless for the
remainder of the half.
The Blazers mustered just four shots on the afternoon, one apiece
by Cara Jordan, Katherine Rendon, Chelsea Kinna and Jenna Burns.
Two were wide and the other two were saved by Seahawk keeper
Elizabeth Benge.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks tacked on three more scores in the second
stanza. Cervenka scored her second goal of the game at the 65:16
mark, while Katrina Borden and Katie Klotz found the back of the
net just three minutes apart late in the game.
Buhrman finished with 11 saves as the Blazers were outshot
27-4.
The Blazers head back on the road Saturday when they travel to
Lycoming College for a noon tilt.
