ST. MARY'S, Md.--The Hood College volleyball team (1-7, 0-1 CAC)
dropped a 3-0 decision (30-18, 30-24, 30-20) to St. Mary's College
(Md.) (7-1, 1-0 CAC) Wednesday evening in its first-ever Capital
Athletic Conference match.
Senior Lindsey Nagy keyed the offense once again with 11 kills,
marking the third time this season she has racked up double figures
in that category. The native of Torrance, Calif., also moved into
second place on Hood's all-time kills list, now with 652. Jenni
Ferris '02 is Hood's career kill leader with 1,201. Additionally,
Nagy aced the Seahawks four times to give her 182 for her career
and tie her with Robin Deniker '01 for fifth place all-time.
Freshman Kristina Straub registered 11 assists, her third
double-digit effort of the fall. Junior Jamie Gardner recorded a
season-high 12 digs while senior Jamie Bussey also tallied 12
digs.
Hood looks to end its seven-match losing skid Friday when the
Blazers travel to Scranton, Pa., for the nine-team Scranton
Volleyball Invitational. Hood will take on Mt. Aloysius College and
Centenary College (N.J.) in pool play at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.,
respectively.
