GETTYSBURG, Pa.--The Hood College volleyball team (1-6) lost a
pair of matches at the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg
College Saturday, falling 3-0 to Catholic University (17-30, 25-30,
22-30) and 3-1 to Lycoming College (30-27, 27-30, 20-30,
19-30).
Seniors Ashley Bryan and Lindsey Nagy led the Blazer offense in
the Lycoming match, combining for 20 of Hood's 31 kills. Senior
Caroline Woodhams set up 18 Blazer kills and registered five aces
to go along with a pair of block assists. Senior Jamie Bussey
tallied a season-high 19 digs to pace the defense.
Then in the Catholic match, Nagy and junior Jamie Gardner put down
seven kills apiece while Bussey reached double figures again in
digs with 13.
Nagy and Bussey continue to climb Hood's career charts in numerous
categories. Nagy now ranks third all-time in kills with 641,
trailing former teammate Ashley Cook '05 by 10 for second place.
She is also sixth in career aces with 178, four back of Robin
Deniker for fifth place. Bussey lists fourth all-time in digs with
671. She is 68 behind Mandy South '02 for third place.
The Blazers make their Capital Athletic Conference debut Wednesday
at St. Mary's College of Maryland at 7 p.m.
