LANCASTER, Pa.--The Hood College volleyball team (2-14) rallied
from a two-set deficit to overtake Lancaster Bible College (12-11)
3-2 Tuesday evening in nonconference action.
After dropping the first two sets by the closest of margins
(25-23), Hood stormed back to capture the next two sets by scores
of 25-17 and 25-20 to force a decisive fifth set. The gritty
Blazers outlasted the Chargers in the fifth set, 16-14, to end
their four-match losing skid and snap Lancaster Bible's six-match
winning streak.
Hood achieved several season-highs in the triumph. Kristina
Straub notched her second double-double with 13 kills and 16
assists while Chelsea Weaver and Ashley Burns tallied eight kills
apiece. Lena Bushrod had an outstanding defensive effort, amassing
36 digs, which is the third-highest single-match total in program
history. Leah Garland set up 17 Blazer kills and served up three
aces while Jamie Gardner chipped in seven kills and nine digs.
Hood looks to carry the momentum from this thrilling match into
Saturday's triangular at Lynchburg College.
