OWINGS MILLS, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (7-5-1,
3-3 CAC) saw its seven-match unbeaten streak come to an end at the
hands of the Stevenson University Mustangs (8-4-2, 2-0-1 CAC) by a
score of 2-0 Tuesday.
The Mustangs, who outshot the Blazers 35-6, scored two
first-half goals which proved to be all the offense they would need
on the afternoon. Hood managed a single shot on goal, that by Jenna
Burns in the second half.
Rachelle Buhrman made seven saves in just over 60 minutes of
action, while Kirsten Cacciola rejected a pair of shot attempts in
29:57 in the net.
Stevenson's Stephanie Eyler, who leads the CAC in points and
goals, notched her 15th tally of the season in the 18th minute off
a feed from Allison Humphries. Then 14:29 later, Humphries scored
an unassisted goal of her own for the final margin.
The Blazers return to action Sunday at Purchase College at 2
p.m.
