OWINGS MILLS, Md.--The Hood College softball team (7-5, 5-1 CAC)
swept a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader from the Villa
Julie College Mustangs (5-5, 0-2 CAC) Sunday to extend its winning
streak to five on the season.
Sophomore Jen Willison's basehit up the middle in the top of the
eighth clinched a 3-2 victory for the Blazers in the opener and
junior Jamie Gardner pitched a three-hit shutout in the nightcap to
complete the sweep.
Krista Zerby, Jamie Gardner, Steph Gardner and Jen Lacy all had
multi-hit games in the nightcap while Jamie Gardner tossed her
second shutout of the spring.
The Blazers currently sit in first place in the conference and
return to action Thursday hosting Penn State University-Abington in
a nonconference doubleheader at 3 p.m.
