SALISBURY, Md.--The fourth-seeded Hood College softball team
(15-13) was shutout by the second-seeded York College (Pa.)
Spartans by score of 4-0 Saturday in an elimination game at the
Capital Athletic Conference tournament hosted by Salisbury
University.
York's Megan Lahner worked six shutout innings and limited the
Blazers to just three basehits while striking out seven batters.
Sara Wastler, Ashley Lenhart and Jen Willison all singled on the
day but Hood was unable to push across a run. Megan Mickles pitched
a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two of the three hitters
she faced.
Hood trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth. After Sam
Lawrence singled up the middle to start the Spartan fifth, York
plated two more runs on three Blazers miscues.
Jamie Gardner went the distance and allowed three earned runs on
seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
