ARLINGTON, Va.--The Hood College women's soccer team (5-4, 3-2
CAC) recorded its fourth straight shutout with a 3-0 blanking of
Marymount University (2-7-1, 0-2 CAC) Saturday evening in a Capital
Athletic Conference game at Washington & Lee High School.
Hood has not allowed a goal in 418:33 dating back to Sept. 9
versus St. Mary's College (Md.). Since that contest, the Blazers
have outsored the opposition 20-0.
Carlie Colella scored her fifth goal of the season in the 16th
minute to get the Blazers on the board. Then, less than five
minutes before the half, Jessica Devine notched her fourth goal of
the fall off an assist by Rachel Wolf to put Hood up 2-0 at the
break. Colella then set up teammate Whitney Boyer for her
team-leading eighth score of the season midway through the second
stanza to complete the scoring.
Rachelle Buhrman earned her fourth win of the season and made
six saves in the shutout.
The red-hot Blazers return to action Tuesday hosting Goucher
College at 4 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
