WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College volleyball team (3-14) won
two of its three matches at the Trinity University (D.C.) quad
match Saturday afternoon.
Hood swept the host Tigers in three sets (25-8, 25-9, 25-3) and
outlasted the Penn State University Harrisburg Nittany Lions in
four sets (25-12, 17-25, 25-23, 30-28) in the first two contests of
the day.
Hood captured consecutive victories for the first time since
October 2006 when the Blazers downed Trinity twice in four days.
The Blazers came up short against the Shenandoah University
Hornets in their final match of the day, falling in three sets

Several Blazers set or tied their season and career-highs in
numerous statistical categories. Junior Chelsea Weaver registered a
career-high 36 digs opposite the Nittany Lions while freshman
Brittany Tribett's 34 assists in that match were also a
career-high. In addition, Tribett served up a career-high seven
aces against the Tigers. Both Weaver and Tribett represented Hood
on the all-tournament team.
Junior Kristina Straub recorded a double-double with 12 kills
and 15 digs against Harrisburg. Her 12 kills were a season-high and
her 15 digs matched her seasonal best as well.
Freshman Brittany Lethbridge notched a season-high with 17 digs
in the Harrisburg match while sophomore Laura Saad's six digs
against Shenandoah were a season-high.
The Blazers, who have now eclipsed their win total from last
season, return to Capital Athletic Conference action Thursday at
Salisbury University for a 7 p.m. match.
