FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College field hockey team (3-8) lost to
the Cedar Crest College Falcons (4-9), 3-1, Sunday afternoon in a
nonconference game at Thomas Athletic Field.
The Falcons notched back-to-back first-half scores just 1:07
apart. Emily Seifert tallied her second goal of the season off a
pass from Catherine Onjack at the 21:35 mark. Onjack then scored
one of her own with an assist from Brianna Guggenberger on the
Falcons' next possession. That score would stand at halftime.
Hood outshot the Falcons, 9-6, in the second half and finally
put one past keeper Rachel Orlen at the 47:07 mark when freshman
Megan Cahill registered her second goal of the fall. The goal was
originally negated by the officials, but after a short discussion,
the goal was allowed, cutting the Cedar Crest lead in half. But the
guests added an insurance goal on one of their four second-half
penalty corners as Onjack set up Ashley Jennings for her second
tally of the season in the 55th minute.
Hood junior Anne Marie Hantman rejected seven attempts in the
cage while Orlen finished with six saves for the Falcons.
The Blazers return to action Friday hosting Marywood University
in a nonleague game at 4 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
