SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College men's basketball team (3-3, 1-0
CAC) used a solid second half to come from behind and knock off the
Salisbury University Sea Gulls (1-3, 0-1 CAC), 71-61, on the road
Wednesday in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for both
schools.
The Blazers earned just their second triumph ever at Salisbury's
Maggs Center and halted a three-game losing skid in the process.
Despite owning much of the first half which saw the Blazers lead
by as many as nine, Hood was unable to maintain the upperhand. The
Sea Gulls made a late run and took a four-point lead into
intermission.
Hood overcame a 33-29 halftime deficit and used a 42-point
second half to improve to 5-4 all-time against Salisbury. Hood's
decisive run came at the 6:30 mark when a Tyler Snoots layup
sparked a 10-0 run to put the Blazers up by 12 with 3:45 to play.
After that, the Sea Gulls drew no closer than eight. The Blazers
shot 50 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, hitting
14-of-28 from the floor.
Senior J'Air Brady netted a season-high 20 points to lead four
Blazers in double figures. Snoots tallied 17 points while sophomore
Tory Wilson had 12 and junior Reco Siler chipped in 10.
Hood capitalized on 14 Sea Gull turnovers and transformed those
miscues into 21 points.
The Blazers return to the Odom Fitness Center at Ft. Detrick
Friday hosting CAC foe University of Mary Washington at 8 p.m.
