FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College field hockey team (0-3, 0-2
CAC) suffered a 6-0 Capital Athletic Conference defeat at the hands
of the visiting York College (Pa.) Spartans (1-1, 1-0 CAC) Tuesday
at Thomas Athletic Field.
York tallied four goals in the first half and two more in the
second en route to their first victory of the fall. Junior forward
Allison Roush netted a hat trick and assisted on two more tallies
to lead the Spartan attack. Junior forward Katie Dawkins registered
a pair of goals and freshman forward Sandee Reich also scored for
the final margin.
Hood senior forward Brandy Noel had one of Hood's best chances
to get on the board but her attempt with less than seven minutes to
go just grazed the side of the cage.
The Blazer goalkeeping tandem of junior Anne Marie Hantman and
freshman Kaitlin McCloskey each played one half in the cage and
combined for 12 saves. Hantman turned away eight and McCloskey
denied four. Freshman defender Michelle Buhrman collected three
defensive saves for the Blazers.
Hood has nine days off before its next contest. The Blazers
entertain Goucher College Thursday, Sept. 17, in a nonleague
matchup at 4:30 p.m.
