Box Score STEVENSON, Md.--The Hood College volleyball team (5-11, 0-6 CAC)
suffered a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference setback (12-25, 21-25,
16-25) to the Stevenson University Mustangs (20-4, 3-2 CAC) Tuesday
evening.
Senior Kristina Straub and sophomore Brittany Lethbridge posted
a team-high five kills each while first-year Amy Hagerdon compiled
12 assists in the match. Straub, Hagerdon and senior Chelsea Weaver
all registered seven digs while Hawkins finished with three
blocks.
In the opening set, Stevenson scored 10 of the frame's first 13
points and the Blazers got no closer than six in the set. In set
number two, Hood capitalized on several Mustang miscues to go up
14-12, but Stevenson used a pair of kills by Alex Mercer and Avery
Gabbard and and ace by Kristen Lubeski to regain a 15-14 edge and
would not trail again. The Blazers jumped out to an early 4-1
advantage in the third set, but the Mustangs countered with seven
unanswered points and Hood got no closer than three the remainder
of the set.
Hood wraps up its six-match road swing Thursday at Johns Hopkins
University at 7 p.m.
