Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (4-10, 0-6
CAC) fell to the visiting Salisbury University Sea Gulls (7-8, 5-2
CAC) Saturday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup at
Thomas Athletic Field.
Salisbury scored four times in the opening half and tacked on
three more tallies in the second stanza to move into a tie for
second place with Frostburg State University in the CAC standings.
Sarah Jessilonis registered a pair of goals, one in each half, to
lead the Sea Gulls. Julia Finecey, Erin Mooney, Jessica Robinson,
Sarah Pfundstein and Sam DeRosa also found the back of the net.
The Blazer keeper tandem of Rachelle Buhrman and Kirsten
Cacciola combined for nine saves, as Hood was outshot 34-3. Buhrman
made the start and turned away three attempts while Cacciola played
the final 54:28 in the net and corralled six stops. Jennifer
Fischer recorded Hood's only shot on goal on the day but it was
saved by Melissa Orgera.
The Blazers travel to Wesley College Tuesday for their final
road game of the season. Hood will square off against the
Wolverines at 7 p.m. as both teams are in search of their first CAC
wins of 2010.
