Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College volleyball team (6-14) got
back on the winning track with a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-12, 25-12)
over nonconference rival Trinity University (D.C.) (3-18) Monday
evening.
Hood put a stop to its six-match losing skid and registered its
sixth win of the fall, the most for the program since 2006. Hood
also swept Trinity for the 16th straight time.
First-year Ashley Whaley
smacked a season-high five kills to lead the Blazer attack. Senior
Kristan
Hawkins added four kills and sophomore Ashley Beall
contributed three. Senior Chelsea Weaver
paced the Blazer defensive effort with 13 digs and served three
aces while first-year Amy Hagerdon
collected 12 assists and five aces.
The Blazers wrap up the 2010 season Tuesday evening hosting the
Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions at 7 p.m. Hood will be looking
to exact some revenge on PSU-Harrisburg after dropping a
heartbreaking five-set decision to the Nittany Lions back in
September. Hood will also recognize its five seniors before the
match.
