Volleyball Snaps Four-Match Skid With Sweep of Patriots

VALLEY FORGE, Pa.--Sophomore Ashley Beall posted a season-high nine kills to lead the Hood College volleyball team (5-8) to a 3-0 nonconference victory (25-9, 25-21, 25-14) over Valley Forge Christian College (3-19) Monday evening.

Beall registered a .600 hitting percentage by collecting nine kills on 15 attempts with no attack errors to help the Blazers snap a four-match losing skid. Hood downed the Patriots for the second time this season and improved to 5-4 in nonconference matches.

Sophomore Brittany Lethbridge and first-years Ashley Whaley and Ally Austin smacked four kills apiece. Austin, who saw her first action of the season in tonight's match, also tallied three digs and an assist.

First-year Amy Hagerdon amassed 22 assists and served six aces to bring her team-leading total to 27. Senior Kristan Hawkins put down three kills and also aced the Patriots three times.

Hood travels to Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount University Thursday. Both the Blazers and Saints are in search of their first conference wins of the season.
