Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--Five different players scored for the Hood
College field hockey team (2-9) as the Blazers dealt the College of
Notre Dame (Md.) Gators (0-8) a 6-0 defeat Thursday in
nonconference action at Thomas Athletic Field.
Hood, which posted a season-high six goals, defeated the Gators
for the third time in a row and just the fourth time in the
rivalry, which dates back to 1996.
First-year Jennifer Ghio scored a
pair of goals, the first two of her Blazer career, while classmate
Madeline
Birmingham and senior Katelyn Bramkamp
also found the back of the cage for the first time this season.
Birmingham's score in the 41st minute ignited a five-goal scoring
spree by Hood in the second stanza. Sophomore Miriah Stone and junior
Colleen
McCarrick notched their second scores of the fall in the
decisive triumph as the Blazers outshot CND, 20-1, on the day.
Sophomore Megan
Cahill tallied a pair of assists while junior Amanda Blakeslee,
first-year Rachel
Gannon and McCarrick were also credited with helpers.
Senior Anne
Marie Hantman and first-year Ashley Stennett
combined for the shutout, Hood's second of the season.
The Blazers entertain the Wells College Express in a nonleague
game Saturday at 4 p.m. Hood will recognize the field hockey team's
three seniors, Bramkamp, Hantman and Patsy Davis, prior to the
contest.
