FREDERICK, MD.--The Hood College softball team (17-23) split a
nonconference doubleheader with the McDaniel College Green Terror
(16-24) Wednesday, falling 9-8 in the opener before rebounding to
take the nightcap, 8-5.
The Green Terror plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh
for a come-from-behind win in game one while the Blazers rapped out
14 hits and scored in all but one inning in game two to end the
2010 season with a victory.
Cleanup hitter Jordan Wolford was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer,
a walk and three runs scored while Erin McNally and Kandie Glenn
collected three hits apiece. McNally, who also drove in two runs
and scored twice, extended her hit streak to nine in a row.
Rachael Potts, Kelly Gafner and Bridgette Ringley all knocked in
runs in the opener while Wolford picked up six strikeouts in the
complete-game setback.
In game two, Hood scored two in the first, three in the second
and one apiece in the third, fifth and sixth innings. Brittni Jones
had a 3-for-5 effort at the plate while Brittany Sabol belted her
first home run in a Blazer uniform to lead off the second inning.
Potts, Gafner, Sabol and Ringley all registered multi-hit games in
the win.
Ringley picked up her seventh win of the season while Wolford
was credited with her first career save.
