Box Score ARLINGTON, Va.--Senior Cara Jordan of the Hood College women's
soccer team (2-5, 0-2 CAC) registered the ninth multi-goal game of
her career Saturday, scoring both Blazers goals in a 4-2 Capital
Athletic Conference defeat to Marymount University (3-3, 2-1
CAC).
Marymount's Paige Pierson doubled her seasonal goal total in the
contest, booting in all four Saint scores on the day. Her first
came in the seventh minute off a cross from Shannon Bisselink. She
added an unassisted score in the 15th minute off a free kick to
stake the hosts to a 2-0 lead. Pierson completed the hat trick in
the 34th minute on a breakaway. The Blazers got one back less than
two minutes later when Jordan notched her third goal of the season
off a feed from Abby Dyjack. The Blazers trailed 3-1 at
intermission.
Jordan struck again in the 55th minute when she headed in her
32nd career goal to pull the Blazers to within one. But Pierson
tacked on an insurance goal for the Saints in the 67th minute off
another free kick for the final margin.
Goalkeeper Rachelle Buhrman played the entire contest in the net
and made three saves while the Marymount tandem of Candice Lane and
Gabriela Prellezo split time between the posts and combined for
nine saves.
Hood outshot Marymount, 20-10, and held a 6-3 edge on corner
kicks.
The Blazers look to halt their five-game losing skid Monday at
Mt. Aloysius College. Hood squares off against the Mounties at 4:30
p.m. in a nonconference tilt.
