Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (4-7, 0-4
CAC) suffered a 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference defeat at the hands
of the Stevenson University Mustangs (5-5, 2-1 CAC) Wednesday
afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Mustangs netted a pair of
second-half goals to secure their second CAC win of the season. The
Blazers, meanwhile, were outshot 27-11 and remain winless in league
matchups.
Danielle Pulliam scored her first goal of the season in the 49th
minute when she tapped in a cross from Heather Redding in front of
an open net. Samantha Novy then tacked on an insurance goal in the
64th minute off a feed from Catherine Madden.
The Blazers fired five shots on target, including a pair by
junior Aimee Smith, but all five were denied by starting keeper
Brittany Ross. Sophomore Stevey Markowvich, junior Casey Miller and
sophomore Stephanie Taylor were also credited with shots on
goal.
Senior Rachelle Buhrman made eight saves in defeat while junior
Kirsten Cacciola played the 19:51 in the net and rejected three
attempts.
Hood next travels to CAC foe St. Mary's College (Md.) Saturday
for a noon contest.
