FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (2-11) dropped a 2-0 nonconference decision to the visiting McDaniel College Green Terror (2-9) Monday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Green Terror benefitted from a goal in each half to notch their second victory of the season. Ariel Cangemi one-timed a flick from Teresa Paz into the net for her first goal of the season in the 33rd minute. Then Julia Pope notched her second goal of the fall in the 54th minute when she finished a through ball from Kelly Purcell.

Hood narrowly missed getting on the board in the closing minutes of the game. Angelia Miller controlled the ball on the left side of the box and spotted that McDaniel's reserve keeper, Kristin Cochran, was out of position. She booted the ball towards the net but a Green Terror defender got there just in time to block the ball from passing over the line and in.

Kirsten Cacciola, the reigning Capital Athletic Conference defensive player of the week, stopped seven shots on the day while Cochran and starter Jan Woolley combined on the shutout for McDaniel.

The Blazers hit the road for a nonconference night game Wednesday at Goucher College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
