Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College volleyball team (9-12, 1-5 CAC) came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision(10-25, 11-25, 12-25) to the Stevenson University Mustangs (25-2, 5-1 CAC) Tuesday evening in a Capital Athletic Conference match at Gambrill Gymnasium.
The Mustangs led wire-to-wire in the first set, racking up 15 kills on 40 attempts with only three errors. Hood used an ace by Alyssa Eshleman, a kill by Ashley Park-Brouse and a Mustang hitting error to take a 3-1 lead at the start of set number two. SU rallied to regain the lead on a kill by Brooke Gilley and would not relinquish its advantage.
In the third set, a pair of kills by Brittany Lethbridge drew the Blazers to within 15-10, but Stevenson's Christine Isenberg served up three straight aces which ignited a 7-0 run by the Mustangs. Stevenson closed out the match on one of Avery Gabbard's 12 kills.
Lethbridge led the Hood attack with six kills while Alyssa Eshleman had five and Ashley Park-Brouse had two. Amy Hagerdon set up 12 of Hood's 16 kills and Eshleman registered a team-high 10 digs.
The Blazers continue CAC play Thursday at Salisbury University at 7 p.m.
