Box Score SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team (3-9-1, 0-6-1 CAC) lost to the No. 17 Salisbury University Sea Gulls (10-2-3, 5-1-0 CAC) by a count of 7-0 Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action.
The Blazers were without the services of several starters, including keeper Will Lane, but junior Aaron Crone stepped up and donned the goalie jersey for this difficult assignment against a nationally ranked league opponent. Crone didn't have much time to catch his breath as the Sea Gulls booted 39 shots at the Blazer net, but he turned aside nine of them.
Salisbury scored four goals in the first half and three in the second half en route to their fourth CAC shutout of the season.
The Blazers fired off four shots, two by Mike Yencho and one apiece by Anthony Belnomi and Chris Mendez, but a trio of Sea Gull keepers kept Hood out of the net.
Hood wraps up the 2011 season Monday hosting CAC opponent York College (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
