ARLINGTON, Va.--First-year Alex Bodine of the Hood College men's
swim team set an individual school record in the 100 back as the
leadoff leg of the record-setting 400 medley relay Saturday at a
Capital Athletic Conference double dual with Marymount University
(Va.) and St. Mary's College (Md.).
Bodine led off the medley relay with a time of 56.21 in the
backstroke leg, lowering the previous standard of 56.45 set by
Jason Kinder at the 2007 CAC championships. The remaining three
swimmers in the relay, Andrew Bodine, Connor Eliff and Jon Collier,
combined to better the school record in 3:54.44 and tie Marymount's
squad for second place. Hood's time today was 1.53 seconds faster
than the previous mark of 3:55.97 set at last year's CACs.
Alex Bodine was also third in the 50 free (23.70) and second in
the 200 back (2:12.54) while older brother Andrew came in second in
the 200 IM (2:10.10) to comprise Hood's top individual finishes on
the day.
Collier took fourth in the 100 free (52.48) while Lucas Netter
placed fourth in the 500 free (5:45.09) and the 1000 free
(11:57.53).
Marymount topped the Blazers, 102.5-80.5, while SMCM got the
best of Hood, 152-47.
The Blazers hit the road again next Friday for another CAC
double dual at York College with the University of Mary Washington
at 6 p.m.
