Strong Serving Propels Hood Volleyball to 3-0 Win Over Patriots

Box Score

VALLEY FORGE, Pa.--The Hood College volleyball team (6-8) swept the Valley Forge Christian Patriots (0-16) in three sets, 25-9, 25-8, 25-15, in a nonconference match Tuesday evening.

The Blazers tallied 21 aces in the match, including 12 by sophomore Amy Hagerdon. Her single-match total ranks second all-time at Hood, trailing only Jessica Lertora '04 who aced Chatham University 13 times back on Sept. 28, 2002. Hagerdon also collected 15 assists for her sixth double-double of the season.

Hood posted a .310 hitting percentage, the second-highest mark of the season for the squad, after registering 26 kills on 58 attempts. Brittany Lethbridge smacked a team-high six kills while Hayley Rogers put down five and Ashley Park-Brouse had four.

The Blazers hit the road once again Thursday for a nonconference match at Catholic University at 7 p.m. A Hood win Thursday would match the squad's win total from the 2010 season.
