Hornets Sting Blazer Women's Soccer, 3-0

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (1-3) came up on the short end of a 3-0 nonconference decision to the Shenandoah University Hornets (4-2) Thursday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

SU's Jessi Dennis scored a pair of first-half goals a little more than nine minutes apart, marking her third and fourth tallies of the season. Kelly Miles tacked on another score in the 34th minute and the Hornets took their 3-0 advantage into intermission.

the Blazers kept the Hornets out of the net in the second stanza but were unable to finish a score of their own. Hood's Amber Shumaker fired the Blazers' four shots on goal but the Hornet goalkeeping tandem of Kat Terza and Alyssa Plourde came up with stops on each attempt. Hood's Kirsten Cacciola tallied six saves in the Blazer net, three in each half.

Shenandoah outshot Hood. 16-4, and was awarded four corner kicks to Hood's two.

The Blazers continue their four-match homestand Saturday when they open Capital Athletic Conference action against the St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks at 1 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
