Box Score FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College women's soccer team (1-7, 0-2 CAC) was downed 1-0 in a non-conference defeat to Washington College (2-5-1) this afternoon.
The lone goal of the game came in the 20th minute of play when Heather Smith scored her first goal of the season. Smith was set up beautifully by a nice cross from the right flank by Gabby Antalffy. Smith swiftly volleyed the ball out of the air for the lone goal of the game.
The Blazers had a tough time getting anything going offensively coming up with just four shots in the game.
Casey Miller had the Blazer's best chance in the second half with a shot from 25 yards out but it was right at Washington goalkeeper Tori Ripple. Ripple came up with two saves on the afternoon.

Kirsten Cacciola had a solid effort on the day facing 23 shots and making eight saves. Washington also had five corner kicks to Hood's two.
Hood returns to action on Wednesday in a home Capital Athletic Conference game at 4:30 p.m. against York College.
