BRIDGEWATER, Va.--The Hood College women's soccer team (1-1) dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to the Bridgewater College Eagles (3-0) Wednesday afternoon in nonconference action.

Hood's Dorothy Hearn and Stephanie Weaver tallied Hood's lone shots on the afternoon as the Eagles owned a decisive 21-2 advantage on shot attempts. After a scoreless first half, BC's Anna Theisen finished a pass from Melanie Waters in the 58th minute for the only score of the day. Kirsten Cacciola put forth a valiant effort in the net for the Blazers by making eight saves.

After beginning the 2011 season with a pair of road games, Hood hosts its first opponent of the fall Saturday when the Blazers take on the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m. in a nonconference tilt at Thomas Athletic Field.
