Blazers Beaten by No. 2 Messiah, 9-0

Box Score

GRANTHAM, Pa.—The Hood College women's soccer team (2-10, 0-4 Commonwealth) was defeated by the NCAA Division III No. 2 ranked Messiah College (11-1-1, 4-0 Commonwealth) 9-0 in conference action Wedenesday night. Going into the contest the Blazers knew going up against the mighty Messiah was going to be a herculean challenge and it proved to be just that.

Hood goalkeeper Leah Norris made nine saves for the game, as she was bombarded with shots all night. She did her best with all of the shots coming her way, but she and the entire Blazer team was no match for the Falcon quality. Messiah was led by Elizabeth Phillips, who scored in the eighth minute and later in the 65th minute. The Falcons also had two other players in Rachel Scheibeler and Alicia Frey that scored two goals apiece.

Alex Brandt, Carly Schaefer, and Emily Schneider rounded out the scoring for Messiah.

The Blazers return to action this Saturday when they travel to Arcadia University in Commonwealth Conference action. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
