Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--The Messiah College Falcons (11-3, 6-0 Commonwealth), the five-time defending Commonwealth Conference champions, defeated the Hood College field hockey team (2-11, 0-6 Commonwealth) by a count of 10-0 Tuesday afternoon in a conference game at Thomas Athletic Field.
Despite a career-high 21 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Liz Decembrino, the Falcons, who climbed to No. 10 in this week's national rankings, scored five goals in each half off the sticks of six different players. Hood's Emily Richardson collected four defensive saves while Rachel Marlow also had one in a valiant defensive effort by the Blazers.
Hood two shots in the contest both came off penalty corner opportunities, but attempts by Anna Kate Smith and Megan Cahill were stopped by reserve keeper Angela Klaczak. Messiah's Molly Gebrosky started the game in the cage and both she and Klaczak combined on the shutout.
The Blazers have two games remaining this week. Hood travels to Commonwealth foe Albright College Friday before returning home to host Bridgewater College on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in a matchup that was rescheduled from Sept. 12.
