Women's Soccer Falls to Lebanon Valley, 5-0

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (2-12, 0-6 Commonwealth) put up an admirable fight Thursday afternoon against the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen (8-6, 4-2 Commonwealth), falling 5-0 in Commonwealth Conference action at Thomas Athletic Field.

Goalkeeper Leah Norris stopped a career-high 18 shots in the contest and the Blazers surrendered only one goal in the final stanza to the Dutchmen, who are tied for third place in the Commonwealth standings.

LVC scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the game off unassisted scores by Nicole Snyder, her 11th, and Heather Tran, her second. Bre Schlemmer and Sarah Wannlund notched their first scores of the season late in the first half and the Dutchmen led 4-0 at the break.

The Blazers have battled injuries throughout the season and today were forced to start and play with 10 players. In the 72nd minute, another Hood player was unfortunately sidelined with an injury. But in a commendable gesture of sportsmanship, the Lebanon Valley squad chose to play just nine players as well for the final 18:30 to match Hood's healthy roster of nine.

Hood hits the road for its next two contests at Commonwealth foes Alvernia (Saturday) and Stevenson (Wednesday). The Blazers' final regular season home game is slated for Saturday, Oct. 27 against league foe Lycoming.
