Hood Defeated by Conference foe Albright, 3-1

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College women's soccer team (2-9, 0-3 Commonwealth) was defeated by Albright College (7-3, 2-1 Commonwealth) 3-1 at Thomas Athletic Field Saturday afternoon. The Blazers exhibited heart in a gritty team performance, however it was not quite enough to stave off the Lions.

Freshman Emily Bartolotto scored her second goal of the season in the 81st minute with a well hit shot from around 25 yards out. Bartolotto received the pass and had the composure to strike the ball firmly with her opposite foot and hit the back of the net for Hood.

The goal for Bartolotto was a little too late though, as Albright had already seized the game in the earlier stages of the match. Erin Hand of Albright found the back of the net in the first half with a well struck shot that beat Hood goalkeeper Leah Norris at the near post. The Lions struck again after intermission with a goal from Alex Talbot. Hand got into the action again in the 64th minute with a goal that for all intents and purposes ended any Blazer comeback bid.

Hood goalkeeper Leah Norris made nine saves on the afternoon, while facing 27 shots. Albright's goalkeeper's Kelly Burian, Alexis Lorusso, and Jaymee Stepp did not have to make a save.

Hood returns to action this Wednesday when they take on perennial powerhouse Messiah on the road. The game is under the lights and will begin at 7 p.m.
