Box Score FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College field hockey team (2-8, 0-3 Commonwealth) fell to the visiting Arcadia University Knights (10-2, 3-1 Commonwealth) by a count of 7-0 Sunday afternoon in a Commonwealth Conference matchup at Thomas Athletic Field.
Arcadia, which came into today's game as the Commonwealth's most potent offense, scored three times in the first half and added four more scores in the second half. It was the sixth time this season the Knights have registered at least five goals in a game.
The Knights' Marilyn Beatty and Jennie Kamel were listed as the top two scorers in the league, averaging 3.2 and 3.1 points per game, respectively. The duo combined for five goals and three assists on the day as the Knights outshot the Blazers, 28-3, and were awarded 26 penalty corners.
Hood's Ying Van Schaik turned aside 10 Knight attempts while Chelsea Young and Michelle Buhrman each fired shots on target, but both were rejected by Arcadia keeper Mia DePlato.
Hood recognized seniors Megan Cahill, Miriah Stone and Buhrman prior to the contest. All three have been four-year starters for the Blazers and have been major contributors to the program since their arrival in 2009.
The Blazers conclude their three-game homestand Wednesday when they host another Commonwealth opponent, the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen, at 4 p.m.
