Box Score FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College women's soccer team (2-7, 0-1 Commonwealth) was defeated by Widener University (4-4-1, 1-0 Commonwealth) in the Blazers first ever game in the MAC.
The first half saw opportunities for both sides, however neither could muster a goal until the second half. Widener was able to capitalize in the 51st minute when Kelly Buckley scored her third goal of the season to put Widener ahead. Buckley struck again in the 65th minute off a nice individual goal as her efforts dug Hood in an insurmountable hole.
In between Buckley goals was a tally from Stephanie Dickinson in the 54th minute. Rounding out the scoring for the pride was a Patty Squicciarini strike in the .
Hood goalkeeper Leah Norris made seven saves on the afternoon. Widener goalkeeper Vanessa Hejnas made one save and the tandem of Hejnas and Olivia Pfautz combinded for the clean sheet.
Hood returns to conference play this Tuesday when they hit the road to play Elizabethtown College. The game will be under the lights at 7 p.m.
