Buhrman Cashes in on Penalty Stroke in 4-1 Loss at Shenandoah

Box Score

WINCHESTER, Va.--Senior Michelle Buhrman of the Hood College field hockey team (1-1) netted her second penalty stroke goal in as many games but the Blazers fell short against the Shenandoah University Hornets (2-1) Tuesday afternoon in nonconference action.

Buhrman was awarded a penalty stroke as time expired at the end of regulation and for the second consecutive game she was able to convert the opportunity for her sixth career goal in a Blazer uniform.

Shenandoah scored a pair of goals in each half by four different players. Hood's Morgan Cole and Megan Cahill combined for three shots on cage but all three attempts were turned aside by Hornet keeper Sarah Clare.

Jamie Wingo earned her first collegiate start in the cage for Hood and made three saves in 48:13 of action, while Liz Decembrino patrolled the cage for the final 21:47.

The Blazers will hit the road again Saturday for a nonconference contest at Cedar Crest College beginning at noon.
