GRANTHAM, Pa. - Hood College fell in straight sets at Messiah in Commonwealth Conference action.

Set scores were 25-13, 25-12 and 25-20.

In the first set, a kill by Amy Hagerdon (Berryville, Va./Clarke County), an ace by Ashley Park-Brouse (Myersville, Md./Middletown) and an attacking error on the Falcons put the Blazers ahead 8-5.  Messiah, however, regrouped and a kill from Kristen Douglas started a 9-1 run that put the set out of reach. 

The Blazers led 5-4 in the second set after a service ace by Addie Roop (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key), but again the Falcons collected themselves and went on a 10-1 spurt to take control of the set.

It appeared that the Falcons may go on another run in the third set, but with Hood trailing 17-11, Park-Brouse scored a kill to breath life into the Blazers. A kill by Roop later in the set pulled Hood within 19-17. The Blazers still trailed by just two after a bad set made it 20-18, but that was as close as Hood would get before the Falcons closed out the match.

Park-Brouse led the team with five kills and two blocks. Roop paced the team with three aces and 14 digs. Brenna Elizondo (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) dished out eight assists.

Taylor Hook led all players with six kills for Messiah. Jessica Geib had 14 assists. Both Julia Temple and Jordyn Scheib had four blocks.

The Blazers stay on the road for a match at non-conference foe Gallaudet on October 25 at 6 p.m.
