Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College field hockey team dropped a Commonwealth Conference game this afternoon to the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays 8-0.
Casey Fletcher scored the game's first goal at 5:35 when she received a pass at the left post and put it into the open cage.
Two more Blue Jays' goals at 14:35 and 29:05 gave them a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Kaylee Werner scored a hat trick with an assist, and Taylor Alwine added two goals with an assist.
The Blazers defense earned five defensive saves in front of Ying Van Schaik (Easton, Md. / Gunston Day School). Laura Lokey (Millville, N.J. / Millville) and Emily Richardson (Sykesville, Md. / Century) had two each. Madeline Birmingham (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn) added the fifth.
Van Schaik faced 45 shots and made 15 saves for Hood, and Elizabethtown's Marlena Johnson made one save on one shot.
Hood returns home to Thomas Athletic Field for Senior Day on October 26 to face the Alvernia University Crusaders.
