Field Hockey Drops Commonwealth Game Against Arcadia

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Hood College field hockey team faced off against the Arcadia University Knights in its second Commonwealth Conference game of the year and fell 8-0.

Five first half goals in an 11 minute span were too much to overcome for the Blazers. Three more in the second half wrapped up the scoring.

Debbie Wolf scored a hat trick for the Knights, accounting for the third, fifth, and seventh goals.

The Hood goalkeeper tandem of Jessica Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) and Ying Van Schaik (Easton, Md. / Gunston Day School) combined for 21 saves. Sedgwick made seven in the  first 32 minutes, and Van Schaik played the remaineder of the game. Madeline Birmingham (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn) added a defensive save.

The Blazers continue the conference schedule on October 9, when the Stevenson University Mustangs come to Thomas Athletic Field.
