FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College scored wins in nine of the day's 11 events as the Blazers defeated Lycoming 137-68.
Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts), BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) and Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) each won two events, and Gardner and Daisey were both part of the winning 200-yard medley relay.
Gardner, Daisey, Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) and Scott Clark (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. / American Heritage) got the Blazers started on the right foot with a 1:41.15 to win the medley relay
Rogers won the 1,000-yard freestyle and and the 500 free, with teammate Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Catholic) finishing second in both events. His 10:18.52 was over 30 seconds faster than Curry in the 1,000 and Rogers' 5:03.37 was less than two seconds faster than Curry's 5:05.15 in the 500.
Gardner and Clark led Hood to 1-2-3 finishes in a pair of freestyle events. Gardner swam the 200 free in 1:53.01, followed by Rogers and Lucas Mestas-Nunez (Corpus Christi, Texas / Bluff). Rogers touched the wall in 1:53.97 and Mestas-Nunez turned in a time of 1:55.41.
In the 50 free, Clark outsprinted teammates Victor Muleki (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) and Daulton Swan (Farmington, Utah / Viewmont). Clark had the winning time of 22.44, with Mulek second in 22.82 and Swan third in 23.15.
The 100-yard backstroke was host to Gardner's final win of the day. His time of 57.40 gave him the victory ahead of Bodine, who swam a second place time of 59.94.
Daisey's two wins came in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke. The freshman was over four second faster than the field in the IM with a time of 2:05.65. He then swam a 1:03.32 to win the 100 breast.
Hood's ninth win came via Jonathan Collier (Darby, Pa. / Home Schooled) in the 100 free in the day's closest race. Collier touched the wall in 51.46, just 0.04 faster than Lycoming's Dan Apostolu.
The win improved the Blazers to 3-1 on the year, including 2-0 against Middle Atlantic Conference foes.
Hood wraps up its three-meet homestand on November 6, when Elizabethtown visits the Huntsinger Aquatics Center for a 6 p.m. start.
