Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) poured in 25 points and had five of the Blazers' 11 three pointers on the night in an 83-56 win over visiting Gallaudet.
The 11 made threes tied the team's record in a home game since moving to BB&T Arena.
Gallaudet kept it close in the early going and tied the score at 11-11 after a layup by Joshua McGriff with 11:43 left in the half.
A three-point barrage put Hood in control of the game. Less than a minute later, Justin Bowens (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) hit on from behind the arc to make it 14-11. The shot started a 23-3 run that featured six three pointers by the Blazers, including two apiece by Cook and Cade Woody (Damsascus, Md. / Damascus). Matt Galloway (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) dialed one in from long distance to cap the run, making it 34-14 with 5:50 to go in the half.
Hood built the lead to as many as 24 in the opening stanza before settling for a 46-24 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, the Blazers went to the foul line 20 times and connected on 16 as the lead grew to 30 points on three different occasions.
Cook hit 8-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-14 from behind the arc, and went 4-for-4 from the foul line. He also tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
Woody and Bowens also reached double figures in scoring for Hood. Woody came off the bench to hit 3-of-5 threes and sank a pair of free throws for 11 points. Bowens, was 3-for-4 from the floor and the foul line and finished with 10 points.
Chris Cook (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) had three steals and matched Cameron Cook with six boards.
The Blazers outrebounded the Bison 42-33 in the game. Free throw shooting was a key difference in the game, as well. Hood hit 22-of-28 (79 percent), while Gallaudet struggled and hit only 6-of-21 attempts (29 percent). The Bison were unable to match Hood's three-point prowess, sinking only 4-of-19 threes on the evening.
The Blazers were able to get McGriff into foul trouble, but he managed to hit 8-of-9 field goals on his way to 16 points. Orion Palmer added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Hood will look to get the Commonwealth Conference portion of its slate started on the right foot when Stevenson visits on December 4.
