Women's Soccer Falls to McDaniel 4-0

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College dropped its season opener 4-0, as McDaniel broke open the game with three second half goals this afternoon at Thomas Athletic Fields.

McDaniel opened the score with just under three minutes left in the first half when Catherine Wroblewski made move at the top of the box and fired home the shot. The Green Terror threatened just before that, but Blazer sophomore goalkeeper Leah Norris made a nice move to cut off the offensive player and smother the ball on a cross through the box.

The Blazers threatened right before half when a Samantha Norris free kick from 20 yards just went over the crossbar. Norris had another chance in the 60th minute to tie the score, but once again the shot went just high.

The Green Terror started off the second half with a scoring chance, but Leah Norris came out to cover the ball just before a McDaniel player could get a foot on it. In the 55th minute, off of a Norris save, Maggie Quinn made it 2-0 when the rebound found her right in front of the net.

The third goal came in the 79th minute when Nicole Hill dribbled through the box and found Christina Wroblewski in the middle of the box for her first goal of the season. Two minutes later the fourth goal found the net when Julia Pope connected on a Erica Diffendal free kick.

Norris was credited with six saves in goal.

The Green Terror outshot the Blazers 24-3.

The Blazers next game is on September 4th on Thomas Athletic Field when Catholic travels to Frederick.
